Having been a popular live act for years, supporting everybody from funk maestro Craig Charles to Motown legend Martha Reeves, The Soul Rays have released their debut video.

The Soul Rays have been performing in Liverpool for what seems like a lifetime.

Seemingly winning over every audience they play for, the mixture of soul and exuberant funk is matched by something of a girl group aesthetic. With around ten members, it would be easy for any one of them to blend into the background. But they don’t. Each and every person on stage exhibits a distinct personality, and when they all cut loose at the end of their sets, it is endlessly energetic.

They have been a little quiet as of late. Last time we saw them was a bit of a dream come true for them; they were supporting Motown legend Martha Reeves.

At that gig, they announced their intention to release an album in the coming months. Now, finally, it is about to materialise, and is available to pre-order here.

Below is the video for the first single, To Catch a Thief. It is just as funky and danceable as you would expect, with the girls out front keeping it down to Earth singing in the streets, whilst the band behind them keep taking it up a notch.

Celebrate the release of To Catch a Thief with a free set from The Soul Rays at the Peaky Blinders Bar on Saturday 17th February from 7.15pm.
