With his debut solo album on the way, the former Scissor Sisters man comes to Liverpool.

Jake Shears is coming to the Arts Club in August.

The former Scissor Sisters frontman is due to release his debut solo album on the back of his recent autobiography Boys Keep Swinging, and he’ll be barnstorming around the UK shortly after its release, landing in Liverpool on 21st August.

Scissor Sisters were formed in New York in 2001, but it took the UK to make them an arena filling success, with their first two records climbing to number one, stacked full of massive hits like Filthy/Gorgeous, I Don’t Feel Like Dancing, Laura, She’s My Man, Take Your Mama and a dance version of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb.

The band have been inactive since 2012, and Shears has been unusually quiet. Last year he released the first single from his upcoming album, the glam rock meets burlesque sounding Creep City, with the new album due for release just a few short weeks before the show in Liverpool.

As one of the great flamboyant pop performers of the 21st century, it will be a mistake to miss him in the intimate surroundings of the Arts Club.

Update: Shears will be joined at the show by Liverpool’s own Sonic Yootha DJ’s. You can read our round table with them by clicking here.

Jake Shears plays Arts Club, Liverpool on Tuesday, 21st August. Tickets are available now.
