Independent Liverpool radio station KCC Live have held their inaugural Love For Music Awards, a night celebrating the talent from or based right here in our city region at The Hilton.

The event was made possible thanks to the support of MD Creatives in this journey, with both Miguel Doforo, CEO of MD Creatives, and KCC Live Station Manager Dan Spelman were both invited to the stage by host Claire Simmo to talk on the how and why they decided to make Love For Music Awards.

Doforo said; “When I started working more closely with KCC Live it was the first thing myself and Dan wanted to do literally the idea came about 18 months ago, yes in middle of a pandemic we had this crazy idea to start this it was really because of what we have been through in and out of lockdowns and yet local artists was keeping us all going it was inspiring they found a way to keep releasing keep people in feel connected through music that should be celebrated.”

Spelman added; “This something we at KCC Live have always spoken about over the years. Local music is what we know and is in our DNA from Chrissie Willis with DJ 2Kind and MJ Ruckus doing their thing in that era of the station, to my own era with the amazing Meg Shaw and the outstanding work Meg does with Local & Live. The music scene in this city right now is the best it’s ever been!”

Matty Scott and ItsJustJess got the night going on the performing side of the proceedings and there was plenty of amazing talent that followed including Jaz, Sarah Jones, Anthony Walsh, and a surprise performance from Huyton’s very own Rain Castillo.  Jamie Broad gave us some freestyle and some bad Chat Up Lines, Meg and Ben had us boppin’ and Glass Skies filled the dancefloor.

Alongside all the other award winners listed below there were two special awards in memory of the legendary activist and mentor Paul Kincade, who sadly passed away last year. Doforo made a heartfelt speech before presenting Kincade’s daughter Hayli with the first award, and bookended the evening with The Paul Kincade Liverpool Choice Award to KOF who, like Paul has been a mentor and a leader in the city’s music scene.
