Planet Slop sends condolences to the family, friends and fans of Chester Bennington who has died aged 41.

Chester Bennington, lead singer of Linkin Park and previously frontman with Dead By Sunrise and Stone Temple Pilots, has died aged 41.

Shortly after 7pm UK time on July 20th TMZ and other outlets began reporting the unfortunate news that Bennington had been found unresponsive at his private residence in LA. His death has now been confirmed as suicide by hanging.

In heartbreaking fashion the date of his death would have been the 53rd birthday of his close friend Chris Cornell, who himself committed suicide only two months ago and who’s funeral Chester sang at.

Having risen to fame as the frontman of Linkin’ Park Chester went on to replace Scott Weiland as lead singer of Stone Temple Pilots in 2013, two years before Scott would succumb to a fatal drug overdose.

We offer our condolences to Chester‘s family of which includes his six children, friends, band mates and fans at this awful time.
