Shellac to play Manchester as part of autumn UK tour

mm
Fri 21 July, 2017

Michael Edward looks forward to a visit from the self proclaimed minimalist rock trio.

Noise Rock veterans Shellac grace the Manchester Academy 2 on the 5th of October this year, bringing their vicious, knife edge guitar lines, vomit inducing bass and propulsive, pounding drums with them.

Brought to the stage courtesy of CMH Live and The Brudenell & Friends & Family (whenever we see the word Brudenell, we know it’ll be something special), Shellac are a guaranteed hair raiser live.

Fronted by engineer extraordinaire Steve Albini, whose catalogue both behind the desk and in front of the microphone has shaped a great deal of modern guitar music, the band are known for their almost minimalist style of composition where each element is stripped down to its bare essentials for maximum visceral impact, and for Albini’s vitriolic, sometimes hilarious lyricism.

Support on the night comes from Iona Fortune, whose gorgeous instrumental compositions will provide the calm before the storm.

Tickets are available now.
