With their famous fans including Laura Mvula, Don Letts and Robert Glasper, Soulfultiz is a little excitable for Moonchild’s Manchester show next week.
The critically acclaimed LA trio Moonchild are bringing their hybrid of soul and jazz to Manchester’s Band On The Wall next week.
Moonchild are currently on a tour of Europe, supporting the release of their brilliant third studio album, Voyager via Tru Thoughts Records, which has received heaps of praise from the likes of Gilles Peterson (BBC Radio 6 Music), Jamie Cullum (BBC Radio 2) and legendary DJ Don Letts.
They even have the likes of Laura Mvula and Robert Glasper singing their praises.
The band cites neo-soul legend D’Angelo and Aussie future soul band Hiatus Kaiyote among the major influences on their sound, and since the release of their debut album, 2012’s Be Free, they have collaborated and toured with Stevie Wonder, Jill Scott and DJ Jazzy Jeff, who is something of an unofficial fourth band member.
It is imperative to catch them at Band On The Wall before they start selling out bigger venues – because if Voyager is anything to go by, that will happen soon enough. They have already sold out London’s Jazz Café on this tour, and Band On The Wall shouldn’t be far behind.
Moonchild play Manchester’s Band On The Wall on Tuesday 10th October. Tickets are available now.
