Liverpool Music Festivals shortlisted for multiple 2017 UK Festival Awards.
The 14th UK Festival Awards announced the shortlists for their eight public vote categories this week.
As we’ve somewhat come to expect, Liverpool is strongly represented with six of the city’s festivals racking up 14 nominations across five public vote categories.
2017 also sees Liverpool going in as defending holders of four awards with Creamfields’ 2016 triumph as Best Major Festival joined by wins for Sound City, Liverpool Music Week and Positive Vibration.
The categories that see Liverpool festivals shortlisted are;
Best Medium-Sized Festival – Africa Oye
Best Small Festival – Positive Vibration, Sound City, Threshold Festival
Best Metropolitan Festival – Liverpool International Music Festival, Liverpool Music Week (2016 winner), Positive Vibration, Sound City, Threshold
Best Family Festival – Africa Oye, Liverpool International Music Festival, Positive Vibration
The Grass Roots Festival Award – Liverpool International Music Festival, Positive Vibration
The city’s festival organisers are no stranger to taking home a gong or two either. 2016 saw Positive Vibration win Best New Festival and is back this year competing in four categories, cementing it’s place as one of the UK’s best events.
Liverpool Sound City won the Best Festival for Emerging Talent award at last years event, an accolade previously held by Liverpool International Music Festival in 2015.
Another accolade used to ending up in Liverpool hands is that of Best Metropolitan Festival, won by Sound City and Liverpool Music Week in 2015 and 2016 respectively and with five of our festivals included in this years shortlist, it’s one we hope to see coming back to the city again.
The Festival Awards themselves take place at London’s Printworks on November 30th 2017. Good luck to all of Liverpool’s representatives who work tireless to bring us literally award winning festivals on a yearly basis.
