24 Kitchen Street and CMD Presents bring a huge line-up to highlight the continuing impact of gentrification in Liverpool.
24 Kitchen Street are teaming up with CMD Productions to combat the ongoing threat of gentrification.
Come June 23rd, Get Up Stand Up will present a diverse line up of acts will come together to do their bit for a community that has supported them and many of their peers, including Shy Billy, Butcha B, SPQR, Mary Miller, God On My Right, Elevant, Farhood, Beyond Average (who have just released a new video for single Flight Mode you can watch below) and a massive DJ set from Galactic Funk Militia.
Over the past few years the growing threat of gentrification has already seen the doors of MelloMello and The Kazmier close for good. Unfortunately its a trend that is only speeding up.
The latest venue to face an uncertain future is 24 Kitchen Street. Last year it was announced that the property adjacent to the venue would be sold to property developers, likes so much of the once unused land in the Baltic Triangle area.
The venue’s management raised concerns and showed enthusiasm to work alongside the council and developers to ensure the future of the beloved venue that has become so familiar to so many of us, however as it stands their ongoing survival looks rather grey due to inevitable noise restrictions.
Nothing is yet set in stone but rather than resting on their laurels and waiting until its far too late 24 Kitchen Street and CMD Presents will throw a gig to raise awareness of their circumstances, as well as other venues that find themselves in similar situations.
Advance tickets for Get Up Stand Up are available for £5 from Skiddle.
