Photo Gallery: Conor Oberst & Big Thief at Liverpool’s O2 Academy
Sakura presents a photo gallery as Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst delivers a gig of the year contender to the pleasure of his fans.
It’s a thought that occurs whenever you go to see a solo show of a musician most famously known under another name or as part of a group.
Will he/she stick to the material assigned to this particular moniker or stray into past output?
Luckily for fans of both Bright Eyes and Conor‘s current solo state the singer-songwriter walks the line with envious balance tonight at the O2 Academy, performing an almost equal number of Bright Eyes covers as to songs from his latest record Salutations.
As you’d expect overall it is his solo work that gets the majority of attention with 2016’s Ruminations gets a trio of tracks as does 2008’s self titled release and solo compositions opening the night and owning the encore.
Two separate friends of Planet Slop offer high praise in their brief verbal reviews. “Gig of the year?” and the other “One of the best gigs I’ve been to in a while.”
We’ll have to take their word for it, seems as though we missed a memorable night!
