The incredible Liverpool rapper is premiering his new video at Fact next week. Shaun Ponsonby reports.
MC Nelson is premiering his new video for By The River at Fact this Monday (8th January).
By the River is a jazz infused hip hop and spoken word odyssey into the history of Liverpool, and the history of MC Nelson himself.
The rapper has already built a reputation for socially conscious hip hop. Previous singles, including Storm Brewing and Danny, have matched a flawless flow of lyrical themes with a smooth, jazzy backdrop.
In the video from By The River – produced with Leech Video – MC Nelson merges scouse history with hip hop, and builds on the concept of water and the River Mersey which is presented in the song itself.
The video will be followed by a short documentary, behind the scenes footage before MC Nelson takes to the stage for a live performance of unreleased music.
Following the event, the video will be available to view online.
MC Nelson has been making waves in the UK hip hop scene for the past couple of years, performing shows with the likes of Ghostface Killah, Loyle Carner, Pharaohe Monch, Chali 2na, and performing at festivals in Europe. 2018 looks set to be a big year for him, and the launch of this video appears to only be the beginning.
