Nu Tribe and MC Nelson are among those kicking off a series of nights from Wide Open. Shaun Ponsonby reports.

The Reeds will be hosting a massive night of Boom Bap from Wide Open next month, as Nu Tribe & Butcha B, MC Nelson, Nicky Talent, Remy Jude and someperson & Lucid take over for the first in a series of late night events dedicated to what organisers have promised to be “real hip hop; stories, art and heart”.

Djing the night will be Choonz Inc, who will be supplying a recorded collection of hip hop history.

The artists on the bill have been making their name on the Liverpool hip hop scene for a long time. Headliners Nu Tribe recently relocated to London, but are making a short return trip to the city, and bringing an all-encompassing live show along with a vinyl DJ and their bro Butcha B.

MC Nelson has making waves, with his new video By The River premiering at Fact next week (8th January), and Remy Jude continues to be anywhere you can plug in a microphone, with a cool head matched by his hot vibes.

Nicky Talent has been dropping in at parties recently, and is finally making his official Wide Open debut with his own special guest DJ, which will take us through to the early morning.

Finally, Heavy Mellow Records‘s Lucid & someperson return to Liverpool with a live show and fresh beat tape all the way from Wrexham.

Starting at 10pm and ending at 6am, and for a measly £2 advance, it looks set to be an incredible night, and with many more to come.

Boom Bap takes place at The Reeds (click here) on Saturday 3rd February – Sunday 4th February, 10pm – 6am. Tickets are available here.
